Asphalt Sealcoating

Anatomy of an Asphalt Driveway

An asphalt driveway is only as good as the base beneath it. If the base of the driveway is poorly prepared, no amount of sealcoating will keep it from cracking, heaving and degrading.

Asphalt is a flexible material, but if the base of a driveway is improperly prepared the asphalt will flex to the point of cracking. Once the surface cracks, the base is exposed to the elements, which then accellerates the degradation process.

An asphalt driveway is a significant investment. Properly constructed and maintained, an asphalt driveway can last for many years. Maintenance should include sealcoating, which protects the asphalt from the elements, especially in climates with extremes of temperature. Neglected driveways will rapidly fall victim to the elements, gasoline, oil, salt, and chemicals.

Sealcoating from Jet Black International® every one to three years can help preserve the integrity of your driveway, as well as providing a deep, black color that makes your driveway look like new.
